چکیده

Introduction Tooth loss remains a significant health problem even in developed countries such as the United States. Our research focuses on the development of non-synthetic, bioengineered materials for dental and craniofacial tissue engineering. We hypothesize that dental stem cells harvested from extracted teeth provides a potential source for human progenitor cells for tissue engineering. Our objective is to identify biodegradable scaffold materials and designs, cell sources, and exogenous growth factors, to generate bioengineered teeth and dental tissues of predetermined size and shape.

Tooth Regeneration with Stem Cell Sources

Introduction: During the last decade, advances in tissue engineering and stem cell-based tooth regeneration have provided realistic and attractive means of replacing lost or damaged teeth. The first adult stem cells isolated from dental tissues were dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs). When transplanted with hydroxyl apatite/tri calcium phosphate (HA/TCP) powder, they formed a dentin-like structure...

Advanced tissue engineering in periodontal Regeneration

The old wishes of people were to regenerate lost tissues of periodontium that this fact is achieved by gen and cell therapy .Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammation around the tooth by microbes that causes destruction of supporting structure of tissue of tooth such as alveolar bone, cementum and periodontal ligament. For treatment of periodontal diseases we can use the biomaterials which ...

Biomimetic extracellular matrix mediated somatic stem cell differentiation: applications in dental pulp tissue regeneration

Dental caries is one of the most widely prevalent infectious diseases in the world. It affects more than half of the world's population. The current treatment for necrotic dental pulp tissue arising from dental caries is root canal therapy. This treatment results in loss of tooth sensitivity and vitality making it prone for secondary infections. Over the past decade, several tissue-engineering ...

Stem Cells of the Dental Pulp

Dental Pulp Stem Cells (DPSCs) can be found within the cell rich zone of dental pulp. These stem cells, under specific stimuli, differentiate into many cell types which have wide therapeutic applications.   The dental stem cells are derived from both deciduous and permanent teeth. The viable dental stem cells are very simple to collect, without any mortality and morbidity. Dental pulp stem c...
